“Living with dementia or Alzheimer’s is not easy on the person who has the disease or their loved ones. This disease not only strips the person of their memory, there are other side-effects such as isolation. As the disease progresses the world becomes a difficult place for person walking this journey to navigate. Normal things such as going shopping or out to eat become overwhelming, so oftentimes, these things cease to happen, resulting in isolation. No one knows the challenges more than the experts at Cappella of Grand Junction Assisted Living and Memory Support. To help combat isolation and provide a warm, welcoming environment for care partners and their loved ones, Cappella became an official Memory Café host. We are proud to be the only senior living community in Mesa County to offer this program. Below are some letters from participants of Memory Café reflecting just how important this monthly event is to them.
My wife Carol and I have been invited and attended the past three Memory Café meetings originally recommended by a good neighbor to introduce us for a great afternoon socializing within a setting for great communications, feeling of compassion for one another, delicious food, refreshments and music that has evolved into a highlight each month we look forward to.
Memory Café offers a wonderful place to be around people of having an afternoon of fun, in a safe location supported by a great staff under your tremendous outgoing personality, positive demeanor and oblivious expression of caring for everyone you come in contact with from the moment we arrive until we depart. Time goes by so quickly, due to this environment you have fostered, implemented and we must express our sincere “THANK YOU”.
This environment, under your leadership, makes us feel so welcomed, an insight of just how caring you and your staff will provide to meeting and exceeding the needs of your residents (current and future). You couldn’t ask for a better example of knowing this is the place to obtain the greatest care, with emphasis on the programs, offered at Cappella’s in Grand Junction for your residents.
Thank you for having such a program “Memory Café that inspires each of us that attends from a very caring facility as Cappella’s here in Grand Junction that you can be proud to be a part of. Memory Café program works beyond expectations more than you realize.”

“From the moment we enter the doors at Cappella for the monthly Memory Café get- together, we feel comfortable and cared about. The team there makes us feel like we matter. As a caregiver to my husband I feel relaxed in the presence of other Memory Cafe participants. It is not uncommon to be approached for one-on-one conversations by both team members and participants. This inevitably leads to introductions, interacting and connecting with others. The environment is warm and uplifting. We leave feeling good about our experience.”

“This letter is to let you know how very much my husband and I enjoy the Memory Cafe. It is such a pleasure for me to meet with other caregivers, plus have a safe space for my husband to mingle with people of a similar temperament. The delicious food & drink are a definite plus as well!”
